When selecting a manufacturer's representative for your product line, one should make an informed decision. Learn all you can and get to know the people who will get behind your company. The following will give you an idea about the background, philosophy and direction of the Rep Firm - Sunland Associates.

Introduction

Sunland Associates was incorporated as manufacturers' representative firm in January 1985 for the Florida and Puerto Rico markets. The company, founded on the idea of professional representation, is working to that belief by "Serving All Technologies Under The Sun." These technical industries represent more than four percent of the U.S. market for component purchases and have a growth rate of seven to ten percent per year. SUNLAND ASSOCIATES INTENDS TO GROW WITH IT!

The company is currently staffed with five people and three offices furnished with the necessary equipment to assist us in carrying out our daily business in a professional manner. Sunland has years of experience in the territory as sales representatives, and therefore has the relationships, skill, aggressiveness, and perseverance to increase your sales revenues and profits. Sunland and the principals we represent will grow as out territory grows!

We penetrate our accounts, TOTALLY, by having professional sales people able to fluently discuss product detail with design engineering, purchasing, quality control and manufacturing. Our principal base, as you will see, compliments your product line and is truly a fit that is absolutely bound to succeed. Sunland Associates sincerely wants to represent you and we stand ready to offer any assistance you may require.

Charter

Sunland Associates' charter is first to aggressively seek and represent quality principals who are manufacturers in the technologies of power, packaging, interconnect and system control. The products are to be passive, electro-mechanical, and electronic in nature and require engineering emphasis.

Secondly, we will represent principals with complementary product lines. This will afford us, our principal, and our customers the most effective sales coverage and profit line opportunities.

Additionally, Sunland will limit the number of principals represented. We will not take on more firms than we can honestly sell and dedicate quality time to their selling effort. Our strength is in uniting with principals prominent in their fields and who want to be involved in a long-term business relationship. With the limited product base and expansive outlook we can devote significant time to each principal to more than adequately represent them and serve our customers.

Finally, Sunland's growth is also part of our charter. We expect our sales growth through the next three years to be a minimum of 10% per year, and this growth will be planned, sound and financially responsible.

With these basic elements of our charter defined let us now review business philosophy.

Business Philosophy

Communication is the key to a good business relationship. We support your effort with sales forecasts, market surveys and trip reports. We believe in and work through written plans ourselves and will wholly support your needs at every level of planning, from account penetration through corporate strategic analysis.

Part of our business philosophy is to maintain a continuous rapport with key accounts in our territory. We have had great success in this, by matching the proper personalities with those of the account (select account coverage). In addition, this philosophy has kept each Sunland sales employee active in those accounts that tend to drive the industry. Thus, keeping all of them knowledgeable of current market needs, future trends and communicating these requirements to our principals.

We also believe in training. Sunland has quarterly sales meetings where technical discussions of new and existing products are held, customer problems analyzed and proper interface methods with each principal are reviewed. We also extend invitations for our distributors and principals to participate. The intent for these meetings is to provide everyone with a good working knowledge at the customer, principal and product level. Sunland also matches products with the salesmen's interests to provide a specialist within our sales team for each product. This allows us to technically support our own sales effort, sort of a self-contained or vertically integrated philosophy from a "Rep" standpoint.

We also provide our people the opportunity for professional training inside and outside our industry. They can upgrade computer skills at local universities, use the ERA (Electronic Representation Association) to increase their skill levels in sales and territory management and use the IPA (Institute for Professional Advancement) and obtain their certification as a manufacturer's representative. We currently have three CPMR's (Certified Professional Manufacturer's Representative) on staff who have completed the three year course.

Distribution is also extremely relevant to the way we conduct business. Our organization believes that identity must be kept with this marketing channel through constant contact, support and referral. We believe in conducting frequent sales meetings with franchised distributors at the local level. Our strength then, in this market place, is in our rep/distributor communication and face to face support.

Goals

With our charter defined and our business philosophy outlined, let us address goals, which like yours are not unique, but are in fact very basic.

Our intention is to work to our charter and continue to grow and maintain a dominance in sales representation for the Southeast. We want to fulfill our potential and hold a leadership position. To this end, continuous review of objectives is done for Sunland as a corporation, and individually with its employees, to insure that our overall goals are met. Consequently, with this routine as a common occurence, we all know what's expected and what action is necessary, every day, for the entire organization to succeed.

We have maintained our sales goals and have built a sales reputation as power, packaging, interconnect and systems control specialists since our inception. Our intentions are to sell these "four focused products" into all technologies (markets) in Florida and Puerto Rico. We welcome the opportunity to review our "fit" with you and Sunland's portfolio of manufacturers. We sincerely feel that with the proper fit, you would provide a significant contribution to our growth and achievement of mutual goals. We are confident that the selling strategies Sunland Associates has put together will continue to succeed in bringing value to our customers, our principals and in being a leader in sales coverage for the Southeast.
